Series of lectures by the Professor from Germany started at the Mining University
A series of lectures "Pressure Metal Forming" delivered by the Vice Rector of the Freiberg Mining Academy (Germany) Rudolf Kawalla has begun at the Mining University. 3rd and 4th year students of the Department of Mineral Processing have become his listeners.
In 2016, lectures for University students were delivered by the scientists from Austria, Germany, Poland, Finland and other countries. They made students familiar with the latest trends in the development of the core science abroad, as well as the relevant areas of research, that are in demand in various industries.
Freiberg Mining Academy and St. Petersburg Mining University collaborate in a number of areas, including academic staff exchange. The lectures of German Professors have long been received as an integral part of the learning process by St. Petersburg students and have always aroused a great interest of students. Among the topics covered by German experts are open pit mining, mineral processing, and metal working.
A series of lectures by Rudolf Kawalla, that will take 20 academic hours, is dedicated to pressure metal forming. He is to deliver a week course of lectures to students of specialties "Automation of technological processes and production" and "Metallurgy" and six postgraduates. They get an opportunity to enrich their knowledge in such areas as material behavior in pressure metal forming, microstructure evolution in deformation process, and some others.
Vladimir Litvinenko, Rector of the Mining University, has repeatedly made an emphasis on the exceptional effectiveness of inviting foreign professors to deliver lectures. It gives an opportunity not only to study the material, which is presented by the foreign specialists, but also to learn the particularities of teaching methods used in different countries. In addition to this, undergraduate and postgraduate students get a unique chance to improve their conversational English skills and to enrich their professional vocabulary.
